From the sketchbook: If I drew U.S. Acres today…
by David Reddick on November 18th, 2010At the Garfield studio (my day job), we’ve recently re-launched U.S. Acres as a webcomic, and I’ve been playing around with sketching the characters in my own style, if I were to draw new strips myself these days… what’s funny is that I think my own style is slightly reminiscent of earlier Garfield strips (early 80′s), which were always an influence on me (combined with old Jay Ward and Hanna Barbera cartoons)… Here’s Orson the pig and Booker the chick… I’ll post more as I do ‘em soon, if you wanna see ‘em!
Something wicked this way comes…

Be sure to check out my newest design in our Garfield store, and this one even has my signature on it! This is for a special “Artist’s Series” that we’re doing at Paws, where a few of us artists design a piece in a style we want to do, and sign it as well. I chose a fun “Pop Art” style, a style I’ve employed in my own Pop Art paintings that have appeared in Galleries (maybe I should post some of them), and bammo – you can get it on stuff! Enjoy, my friends!
*** I’ve amended this post to include a sample photo below from one of my gallery showings of my own cartoon pop art I mentioned (thank Tom in the comments for pushing me to do it, haha)! … those large pieces are 5 feet x 5 feet.
