Maybe Ganyon has some cards up his sleeve, he’s just letting Deryus proceed. That’s what I would do if I suspected someone of foul play but couldn’t prove it. Put in a failsafe and let them think they stooped me.
@David – Your drawing style and evolution for this strip & it’s characters has progressed substantially since Bill first wandered out of his accounting offices. May I be so bold as to suggest that all the main characters deserve an up-to-date portrait at this point? It would serve numerous purposes, including updates to the characters page, and would create a nice snapshot in time as to where your style has currently matured.
I’ve never stopped being impressed with many of your other renderings outside of the Billverse style, too. It might even be rather interesting to see such portraits of everybody “in character” as they appear in the strip juxtaposed with a “realistic” rendering … sort of like candid shots of actors & actresses next to shots of the roles they play.
Anyway, carry on, please! I didn’t have much to say about today’s installment, other than it’s beautiful and I’m going through dangerous amounts of popcorn as this portion of the story unfolds. Hoping that the Great Knower of Things was suspicious enough to have taken one or two small precautions to at least partially foil this nefarious skullduggery.
Thank you so much, 3X, that means a lot. I’m pretty proud of how far it has come, and its progress! The portrait ideas are excellent. And I definitely want to update many things on the site. Thank you!
I love this comic, both the story line and the art. I believe “drank” in the 3rd panel should be “drunk” however and the “already” is probably unnecessary. “Just as we had each drunk from the cup”
LOL! You guys crack me up. I confess I never even considered the similarity or whatnot until someone mentioned it. Maybe it’s subliminal on my part. HAHA
Deryus: Arrogant and smart.
Vorik: Arrogant and dumb.
Not the way we know Vorik/Warrix, but somehow that’s how he looks to me here. Did that blood oath eventually raise Vorik’s IQ by a few points?
Or… maybe it’s just a different kind of intelligence, temperamentally based. Deryus the natural theorist (always the most potentially dangerous people among magicians, it seems) and Vorik the natural here-and-now, just-the-facts kind of guy.
Arrrrgh Dragonball Z?
Nah.
Thing is, I REALLY appreciate the styles and visions of Japanese artists, buth I do not care much for it when 90% of a cartoon is yelling mindless agressors jumping in slow motion in front of a blurry streaked background.
If I had to choose something in the style of the Land of the Rising Sun, I’d much rather go for stuff like Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex.
Anyway, MasterBlaster, that was in one of the Mad Max things, wasn’t it?
Good thing this isn’t your day job. I thought you updated three times a week (weekdays), and two other persons wrote for two other storylines on the weekends? Go take some lessons from Blind Ferret! At least the people at Least I Could Do turn out copy regularly. Help Support LoB Today? I think not; I’ll get more for my money giving it to the streetcorner bum!
Legend of Bill updates twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays, with Barwench Tales on Saturdays and The Gnome Syndicate on Sundays. All three comics are “Labors of Love”, which essentially means it’s a volunteer effort on our part. The four of us all have day jobs, families and other things going on in our lives that occasionally pre-empt our work here on the strips. So while we try to get the strips out on a timely basis, we do miss some updates here and there.
And so now we know why Vorik/Warrix can sense the other magic users in our little tale.
.
… very interesting!
How could anyone not see the evil nature of these two, looking at those smug reptilian smiles!
Couldn’t have put it better. Only a fool would have trusted those two!

Vorik’s thought in last panel: “Everything is proceeding as I have foreseen.” (insert evil Emperor laugh)
http://youtu.be/L1IkPl4RGhM?t=19s <– My reaction to the last panel.
Is it me or do Deryus and Vorik look like father and son… ?
Dave?
Gotta agree, only relatives could smile with such equal and practiced creepiness.
I know, right? The eyes, the nose, the evil grin… You take off the dark mustache and beard and you have an older Vorik!
Hey Sexy, if we’re right this may constitute the first-ever “Bring Your Child to Work” day in the LoB comic!
I love that portrait of Ganyon!

OOOhhhhhh Come on MONDAY!
Wait…what am I saying?!

Look at the smiling Deryus.
Now look at David’s Halloween profile pic.
Now look at Deryus again.
Now look at David.
….be afraid….be VERY afraid….
FB profile pic that is

hmmmmm…..or another melding of two personalities? Deryus + Vorik = Master + Blaster?
A most interesting hypothesis, Johanan… most interesting indeed. We will certainly find out.
I think you mean SpaceCop, his is by far the more interesting. How much DRAGONBALL Z has he been watching, I wonder?

Whereas all the stereotypical streetcorner bum will give you, as a certain Vanellope might say, is breath so bad it will turn your ears numb.
