There’s actually a statue of Barmy about a mile from where I’m typing this: at a defunct day care. Someone actually wasted a 150+ year old ponderosa pine by cutting the lower quarter into a Barmy. EEWWWG.
The Barmy Song:
I hate you
you hate me
forget having a family
with a great big slug
and kick from me 2 ewe.
It’s always bad to take bits and pieces and make new, dysfunctional stuff like GMOs.
This chimera “bear” near Bend High School (their mascot is the “lava bear”) is not very bearlike, except at a distance. It is sometimes called the “human butt bear” because it has a human, rather than a bear’s behind. It has a dog’s muzzle:
Other attributes aside, that is the most unnatural pose I’ve ever seen a grizzly in. He looks like he “has to go” really badly but for some unbearlike reason is holding it in.
The “art” around here isn’t that great. I still think a statue of Dionysus would be the perfect statue to put at the four entrances to town. The place is not the party town it was, but we still have mostly rich idiots here. To put a veneer of “culture” on their Bacchanalia of the town, they have theaters. Snort. Kind of like Ashland, Oregon, where the average person is… different… and not in good ways. Lot of demonic possession around there. It’s becoming so here.
I had begun suspecting a blue dragon. The timeframe wasn’t correct for it to be Frank, but this is a world of magicks & dragons …
Recall that this story is taking place ‘before the rise of humans,’ and also that the story teller is the Uncle of the main antagonist for these Gnome Syndicate arcs. So, it’s coming together. Could still be wrong, but it does seem this dragonchild and the ‘bad guy’ are the same creature.
But, clearly something odd about this child. Not only the details about his live birth and standing upright, but that he needed a dragon scale from the storyteller … one of his own wouldn’t do. Perhaps he is trying to work a magic of somesort (with a scale from a blood relative) to change himself completely into a ‘real’ dragon? One of those ‘evil’ villains who was just a weird, outcast as a child and just wants to be ‘normal’ in his current life?
Remember, is is of dragon blood and clan … his thinking and moral structure are not human. What we see as evil may not necessarily be so for him and among dragonkind. Although, that said, the current dragon telling the story seems to feel a need to give this information to a Fairy & a Gnome passing by. Must be important for a reason.
…Remember, is is of dragon blood and clan … his thinking and moral structure are not human.
What kind of excuse is that? Name one basic human ethic that wouldn’t apply equally well to dragons (leaving aside the notorious differences even between, say, primate species in family structures). Just sayin’… from the POV of a speculative fiction writer who deals with this cross-species issue all the time.
So there are 2 main antagonists? Well, three if you count Queen Vasheeva, but she doesn’t really count. And who is the other guy that Gen Foztik reports to? And who is C’Thall.
There was an update for The Gnome Syndicate on Facebook, but it hasn’t made its way here yet because David’s gone to a convention and can’t update it right away. So here’s the link. :3 https://www.facebook.com/legendofbill
OK, wasn’t expecting a red mini-dragon… Have we a new character in the cast? A twin? Or is it a colour-changing situation?
It’s the same character that’s been the main antagonist for this whole series so far.
If this turns into the “Story of Barney” I will find you and I will kill you. =P
Aw, come on, TIM and NABU-ETC., “let him [Barney] rave on, that men may know him mad.”
(no, I have never been a fan of his either)
Barney????
NOOOOOOO!
The problem isn’t Barney, it’s those damned perfect kids. Death, Death to them all!
haha barney was my hero when i was 2… then i cried cuz my mom told me that white kids weren’t allowed XD

A dragon with human attributes? Always trouble.

A good example of the “art” around here. My least favorite is a display of Fisher Price toys at the intersection of Bear Creek Road and 15th Street.
Other attributes aside, that is the most unnatural pose I’ve ever seen a grizzly in. He looks like he “has to go” really badly but for some unbearlike reason is holding it in.
I never noticed that. Good observation.

Behold: the Flaming Chicken, er the “Phoenix” (looks like a red goose with flames):

There’s now a Flaming Chicken race in town. Geocaching.

By the way, the background for the comments forum makes it very difficult to read the comments.
That’s true, and we’ve told them so, but you can get around that with HTML tags – the ones for boldface or strong (see below).
Make it green background with white text. BWAHAHAHA!
It’s been claimed those colors were the easiest to read, even back in the ol’ days when I was in engineering.
*squee!!!!!* Bebe Dragon!!!!

A silly commercial from some years back comes to mind. Some guys at a campfire are scaring each other.
“It walks on two legs; but it isn’t human.”
Rodney Dangerfield appears.
“It’s the CREATURE!”
HELLO ANYBODY HERE???
i dont see any signs of life. its as silent as a mausoleum. i wonder if dave got someone to come to water the plants.???
