OK, so now we know more … and less … But is it safe to assume that if Warrix and Shiarra are siblings that they may have different, yet equal powers? Maybe not since everybody’s shut down when tall, dark & ugly showed up.
.
And if Warrix is here, then who snatched Bill? And can even he is Bill-serker mode take on our villain?
.
See ya Thursday. I’ll be waiting with baited breath! (Man my wife hates when I have that)
Awsome! Simply awsome! Great composition, David, and great color, Don.
An artistic thought: It just occurred to me how curly “things” can present such different feelings — soothing or sensuous as with the fiddlehead of a fern or the curl of a bean-vine tendril or sinister and evil as we see here with Warrix.
Wait, wait, wait. I’m a little confused and don’t have time to look in the archives. I would appreciate anyone willing to set me straight. So they are siblings and that is why Shiarra is Vasheeva’s God-mother. So far fine, but didn’t Vasheeva marry the man who became Warrix? If so, she married her own FATHER!!! EWWWWW! I know I’m missing something but the story has gotten long. I know I’m missing some dynamic in the relationships. David, can we get some kind of relationship flow chart or something?
Ya know, this whole family-in-a-blender thing throughout this comic is starting to make me believe Dave is getting his ideas from episodes of Jerry Springer.
Shiarra can be anyone’s godmother … that’s a status that does not depend on family ties. In fact, traditionally, a godparent is a trusted non-related friend of a child’s parents. So (traditionally speaking), Shiarra would likely be a close & trusted friend of Vasheeva’s father or mother … trusted enough to care for Vasheeva should her father & mother perish or become unable to care for their daughter. I will be curious to see if more will be revealed about that friendship …
This situation is a bit weird (OKay, we’re in the Billverese … ) …
Anyway. Shiarra being sister to Warrix (if it’s a blood relation) means that she is also Vasheeva’s sister-in-law. Even if it is not a blood relationship, they could still be considered to be sister-in-laws under many circumstances.
Raising several questions, but I’ll pose two. 1) Are Warrix & Shiarra actually blood-related (and by how much? half-siblings? etc.), or is some other convoluted family relationship? 2) Not a question so much as an observation: Shiarra would have been old enough to become Vasheeva;s godmother while Vasheeva was an infant … so she is Warrix’s older sister by a fairly comfortable margin (?), unless Warrix misrepresented his age significantly when he was courting Vasheeva. Given his magic ability and his evil, manipulative nature, a very distinct possibility.
Yet another however on that, though … at the time Shiarra became Vasheeva’s godmother, I would think that she knew a lot about her brother when Vasheeva married him 17-some years later. Should not have been much confusion and surprise on Shiarra’s part about what was going on, at least as far as time-line and relationships go. As to Warrix’s nature at the time of his marriage to Vasheeva … Shiarra could well have been deceived about many things.
A very fascinating twist to the tale!
So much that we don’t know. Did Lancelot ever find his rubber duckie? Are the Smurfberries in season yet? Do narcoleptic horses count sleeping sheep? Will Gina forever retain a black streak in her hair and a vamp streak in her personality from her crossover with the Dark Queen? Personally, I think she would wear both quite well …
God-fathers and god-mothers aren’t necessarily blood relatives. They can sometimes be close friends. These were usually people that the parents of the children picked to raise the kid(s) in the case of the parent’s death or long term absence (wars, prison, etc.). In more modern times, the role of godparent has kind of shifted to make sure that the child is brought up with proper religious viewpoints, or so I’ve been told. [citation needed]
That is so true. I forgot. My family doesn’t practice the “God-parent” thing. Thank for straightening me out. I still think flow chart would be cool- and potentially very funny.
a flow chart diagram would be great but perhaps beyond the current level of our technology. like a flow chart diagram on the YOUNG AND RESTLESS. no one yet to my knowledge has been able to show the family tree of a soap opera.
i can dont see this bill-opera being any more coherent
So now we know what Warrix took for his minor in college (his major was in Creative Villany): Performing Arts. Who can forget his breakout role as The Balrog (aka Durin’s Bane) in THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING?
::: snerk ::: Uncredited, no doubt, because Mako still had to do the voice part. I just can’t imagine Mako doing the voice of Warrix here. James Earl Jones, maybe.
done nice coloring its realy nice to see the tone of the comic when you know someone like warrix is going to show the red- orangish back drop very mood setting for oh gods how the hell are we going to survive
and hey he has life like frank plushie!! wonder if it can breath fire and eat warrix’s face
I had the feeling that Warrix has a son, every mayor villain has one!
But the dark queen is his wife, so I think Bill the son of the frost queen and Warrix.
Sorry to dissapoint.
My Gawd, your specualtions on the characters, events, possibilities… they MAKE MY DAY everytime! LOVE ‘EM, Billbarians!!
Listen to Don, btw… Shiarra is NOT a blood relative to Vasheeva (see Don’s comments, which are accurate). You might even get answers at some point on how that came to pass!
For some reason a line from the Flintstones comes to mind. After being abducted and taken to a mad scientist’s abode, they were confronted by Madame Yes and Barney yells “Dr. Sinister, save us!”
Maybe “Lord” Baddun will come along and save their bacon by picking this time to strike at Warrix…
I don’t want to take a crap on the cake, (does that frase even exist? if not, I invented it! ) but, how many retcons has this webcomic’s plot had over the years?
I’d say there’s been 3 or 4 major ones, with a few minor ones tossed in for good measure. It’s almost a required story telling element if you’re going to fill in back story after the fact.
Thank you kindly and sorry for the cake, but I really had to go somewhere and someone was already in the bathroom.
If it’s any consolation, the cake was a lie all along.
Baker, baker, pants on fire.
All will be explained over the next weeks as we leave the tavern (after far too long) and travel with the enigmatic and mysterious Shiarra awhile more… you shall see, faithful Billbarians, oh, you shall see.
Found this coming some time back, just finished archives. JUST LOVE IT!!!! so damn awesome.but I am not able to subscribe to the feed via rss on chrome. any help please? i really wanna continue reading this on my google reader
Cool … squared !
Great job as usual, Dave and Don!
Thanks!
hey don. did ya run out of red and black ink when ya finished this masterpiece. just saying
Just hide? I think I might do some running, and then hide.
DAVID & DON: WHERE?!
Oh these family reunions never end well.
Great job guys! Keep ‘em comin’!
If I understand video games correctly, all we need is a good guy named “Marrix” and everything will be solved.
“Sister. I’m HUNGRY!”
Do your flame-thrower trick, Frank.
ooooo that is a good desktop!

Careful Tim, don’t call him T,D & U, he might be able to hear you, you’re only about half a dozen or so comments away from him.
I live dangerously Don. I regularly look into the mirror and say Beetlehuice three times really fast. That, and I don’t keep enough fiber in my diet.
Too bad this isn’t the bar where Sarah works. Warrix would never know what hit him. .)
Ooooo! Now there would be a classic MTV Deathmatch in astonishing Claymation 3D!
Oh, and Craven snatched Bill, since you asked.
OK Big Bad appears, can we finally check in with Gina and or Gypsy now?

My Internetz for an [EDIT] function ….
Tom,
God-fathers and god-mothers aren’t necessarily blood relatives.
As far as I know, Godparents are still to raise the kids in case of the parent’s demise.
It kind of got watered down in my generation with so many girls choosing to be single moms.
And to think this day started with Bill and Frank running into Kohr.
Actually, this evening started out with Bill & Frank trying to figure out how to buy a meal with no money …
That is so true. I forgot. My family doesn’t practice the “God-parent” thing. Thank for straightening me out. I still think flow chart would be cool- and potentially very funny.

i can dont see this bill-opera being any more coherent
Someone made a flow chart for “I’m My Own Grandpa” and if you’re clever and careful you can find it on YouTube…
It is hard to draw a family tree that reaches into four (or more) dimensions. And it’s even harder to read it.
You only say that because no one has figured out how to look at stuff thats at a right anlge to reality.
So now we know what Warrix took for his minor in college (his major was in Creative Villany): Performing Arts. Who can forget his breakout role as The Balrog (aka Durin’s Bane) in THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING?
He also has an uncredited role as Aku from Samurai Jack.
…*chuckle and snicker*…
WIN!
Might be kinda fun to see a Samurai Jack – LoB crossover strip w/ Bill as Jack and Warrix as Aku.
::: snerk ::: Uncredited, no doubt, because Mako still had to do the voice part. I just can’t imagine Mako doing the voice of Warrix here. James Earl Jones, maybe.
*LOL*
done nice coloring its realy nice to see the tone of the comic when you know someone like warrix is going to show the red- orangish back drop very mood setting for oh gods how the hell are we going to survive
and hey he has life like frank plushie!! wonder if it can breath fire and eat warrix’s face
Don’t care if it breathes fire, I care if it THROWS it!
But yeah, Warrix is lucky to have that plushie…
Sister?? O_O
And the orc general is his nephew and Bill is the cousin.
*brain explodes*
Poor Frank and Giles and Shiarra. Who or what can possibly save them now? *twitching for Thursday already*
heehee… LOVE your comments, gang!!
GOOD. As it says in Sarah’s Bar: “We aim to please, so please aim… or else.”
OK, how about THIS comment?
http://despair.com/hope.html
“SISTER”?! Hoo, boy…..
The first thing I thought of when I saw this was:
Warrix really needs to groom his eyebrows….
LOL! Very funny!
There is only thing I can think of to say> Oh. o_o That’s bad.
I was thinking: This is Not Good (for all values of Good greater than Definitely Irritating).
Is Warrix/shadow Shiarra’s brother, the same as the one they call Bill? He has a shilouette likeness (although the horns alre larger).
Or is Bill the son of incestuous love between Shiarra and Warrix? Or…?
Whatever the case I think that Warrix is Bill’s dad or his dark alter ego (same as pink pigtails and the dark queen seem to be linked maybe)?
Or did I just lost my head?
I had the feeling that Warrix has a son, every mayor villain has one!
But the dark queen is his wife, so I think Bill the son of the frost queen and Warrix.
Sorry to dissapoint.
just when you thoughts things could NOT get worse ……
My Gawd, your specualtions on the characters, events, possibilities… they MAKE MY DAY everytime! LOVE ‘EM, Billbarians!!
Listen to Don, btw… Shiarra is NOT a blood relative to Vasheeva (see Don’s comments, which are accurate). You might even get answers at some point on how that came to pass!
Simply WOW, beyond awesome.
Poor Frank, give him the tabasco boost, he’ll need to produce an atomic flaming… er…. flame!
Amazing, D&D!
Love that episode
“Sorry daaahlinks, I am too important to be capchurd” LOL
I already DID.
*bablinks* Oh….I think I peed a little…. *goes in search of a fresh tutu*
I don’t want to take a crap on the cake, (does that frase even exist? if not, I invented it!
) but, how many retcons has this webcomic’s plot had over the years?
Go through the archives and count them, you might get a valid Ph.D. thesis out of the effort.
Suitable for somewhere.
I’d say there’s been 3 or 4 major ones, with a few minor ones tossed in for good measure. It’s almost a required story telling element if you’re going to fill in back story after the fact.

Baker, baker, pants on fire.
HO SNAP! D8
Maybe BoredFlak can use his “Wand of Automatic Missile Fire” to take out Mr. Warrix?
Wow…. didn’t see that coming.
Wait a second… so Warrix married his sister’s goddaughter? That is… extremely unusual.
All will be explained over the next weeks as we leave the tavern (after far too long) and travel with the enigmatic and mysterious Shiarra awhile more… you shall see, faithful Billbarians, oh, you shall see.
