Fan Art Friday… 70′s style! Featuring: Jeff Wesley of the Garfield Studio
on May 4th, 2012Posted In: blog
Jeff Wesley, staff member at the Garfield studio, asks (and draws): “What IF… the syndicated web comic “Legend of Bill” had been a 1970s Comic Book Series? ” He really nailed the feel of this possibility. Maybe I should have him send the hi-res to us so Don can color it in bright 70′s Marvel comics colors! THANKS, JEFF! The art in this piece and the concept is absolutely BRILLIANT!!

*Challenge Accepted!!*
That is cool beyond words!!
Looking forward to the results!
Cue the classic joke:
BILL: Frank, we gotta clear out of here fast!
FRANK: Whatddaya mean WE, Bill?
(even against my own past insistence that such a thing would never happen, this cover just begs for someone to say it ONCE)
Very nice cover art.
The horse isn’t asleep?
What kind of clock is used for the time stamp?
It was 1:06 PM locally, when I clicked on “post comment,” but it says 3:59 PM.
Nab,
The clock appears to be off a little bit, and in a completely different time zone.
The horse doesn’t always sleep, just when it’s funny. That’s how ‘toon horses work!!
For some reason, it reminds me of some local entrepreneurs who started Black Horse Comics. From Pegasus Books and a club/restaurant in the early 1980s, to comics…
Where’s GIna? Or Vasheeva? Not to be a kvetch, but without babes in bronze bikinis, a barbarian tale counts for nothing….
Must be the first issue. Gina and Vasheeva haven’t appeared yet. I’m sure that they will each rate a full cover just by themselves for the issue in which they make their first appearance. If the talented Mr Wesley did happen to decide to draw the covers for those issues, we would, of course, be eternally grateful….
