   So Chief knows she’s a double agent, has assigned the Leisure Suit Larry wanna-be gnome to keep her frustrated and distracted (and ineffective in finding our scapegoat), and is carefully investigating who’s behind the plant. Looks like he’s not the Chief for nothing.
