My uberest apologies for the lack of Bill this week, folks. Had an unplanned crisis last week, and it’s taken more energy than expected. I will run a guest strip likely tonight or tomorrow, and will resume our tale of Kohr and the explosive next LoB episode MONDAY, as I am back in the saddle. My THANKS to you, Billbarians, for your undying patience and understanding. We’re all family here.
In the meantime, please enjoy this sketch… little-known-fact: LoB was nearly a SCI-FI comic… here’s what Bill looked like before I decided on my fantasy approach, in the sketch phase!
- David

Interesting, LoB as a Sci-Fi strip. Would Frank have been an alien or a robot? Would he even have been in the strip?
I can totaly see Frank as LBM (Little Blue Men) like the LGM’s from Toy Story
Frank the Little Blue Saurian – why not? And I’m sure you could come up with a way to make Bill, Frank, Gina – drawn above? – the Dark Queen, Warrix, Ganyon and others cross over into space opera, without actually disturbing the timeline of Terragard. If I didn’t have a billion other things to do, and if I knew how to draw, I’d actually submit a proposal to you. Meanwhile, the concept drawing is hilarious.
There are no Daleks. Why are there no Daleks?
Probably because The Doctor FINALLY got around to locking the last of them in a time-bubble or something.
Frank? Alien FTW.
If that chick is Gina, she shoulda totally had a detachable gravity gun on that cybernetic stump…. or at least a plasma gatling.
So, is Gina an Android, or a Cyborg, or what? In any case, awesome drawings, Dave!
I well understand how real life can get in the way of doing what one likes to do. Yet, somehow, I survived 20 years in the US Armed Forces and Retired after 20 years of Honorable Service in 1992.
Please keep healthy, on top of your real life and post a comic or two as you can.
Yours in service,
Ray O. Chatterton, US Coast Guard, Retired MK1
Yup. Life happens.
So what were those two characters’ names? Where they Bill and Gina? Or something “sci-fi-ish” like Berry Rod or Ella Vader
*Hug for Dave* Cause you know…sometimes, ya just need one!
Thank you, Pixie. Needed that.
Thank you, friends. It’s been a bit of a tumultuous few months for me, particularly last week, personally. I hate missing updates, I know how it looks, but thank you for understanding that when life happens, in addition to it, I am balancing 4 other comics, work in animation, illustration work for publications, on top of a day job that also works in all of these fields and more, and most importantly, being a father, which is my primary task. LoB is my labor of love, and I am so forunate to have you all here with me, and with Don, Jason and Kevin. It makes me no money, but is somehting I do out of sheer love and need to do it artistically, and I am honored that you value it enough to be here checking for it, and to even get frustrated when it doesn’t update. Rest assured, life is smoothing, and we’re about to take a great ride in the story of Bill, Frank, Kohr, Princess Gina and the Dark Queen. And let us not forget the many loose threads dangling out there (for a purpose)… the mysterious Gypsy, General Foztik, Warrix… and so much more. LoB will be here, even when things happen. THANK YOU, my friends, and fellow Billbarians.
Barbarically,
David
Just as a thought, if you ever wrap up The Legend Of Bill, you could do the sci fi as a sequel, or even a werid dream sequence in the current story! … just sayin
Chin up, Dave!
We’ve got your back!
I sincerely second this. Might not get a story on its own but something of a story arc like a prolonged dream or so.
at least you had some drinks that i gave to the bar pixie was kind of nuff to fill them for free all 99 of them some how they kept turning into bottles and tankards.. ah well i know how it can be troubling in life just take it one day at a time dave we wont hunt you down and chain you to a desk some where in undisclosed area… well maybe just chain you some where where the hectic life can melt away fora while…
Wait…Did that say somewhere that this was almost a Sci Fi strip?! WOW! I am completely amazed. I would love to someday (maybe a future filler) what it might have looked like. No pressure, just puttin it on my pintrest….P.S. I’m addicted to pintrest! You guys might have to start a support group!
What’s “pintrest”? It sounds like a big coaster where you put your brewski.
Speaking of which, I’ll have a pint in David’s honor. The closest thing you have to Guinness Stout, please. I’m in the mood for good ol’ Irish roofing tar.
(Well, that’s what Captain Kirk thought of that style of ale, in Diane Duane’s SPOCK’S WORLD!
)

It’s kind of like a cyber corkboard. You can pin all kinds of stuff and repin other people’s pins.
EW! How can you drink this stuff?! *pours a Guiness*
