This week in TGS: Checking in on Roderick this week as he’s beginning to gather the rest of the artifacts for Lord Baddun’s plan… Kevin Vassey is spinning quite a tale for us!
Our story today: Switching now from the adventures of Pixie & Gnome, we’re instead picking up from the scene back in the 5/1/11 Gnome Syndicate strip, where our villain, Lord Baddun, after a brief obligatory evil-mastermind speech, orders his henchman, Roderick, off to begin the “next phase” of his plan. This phase, apparently, involves Roderick, shown here, obtaining some critical item from a bashful mermaid, who sadly does not want us to see what mermaids do or don’t wear from the waist up.
You’re quite welcome, sir. It seems that the trinket in question, accodring to the evil mastermind speech, apparently will allow him to control time itself! Whether or not it is fish sticks, or if it is good with a little ketchup or perhaps tartar sauce, I cannot say, as the mysteries of such powerful magic are beyond my ken. The fish sticks in my freezer do seem to have an awfully long expiration date, so it is possible that there may be some mystical time-controlling properties in there.
We don’t know that the mermaid is working for the dark side. We just know she has something they want, and they know how to summon her. In fact, it may not actually be a mermaid at – possibly another dark monster in disguise.
I’m impressed how he managed to row with only one oar (but two are shown in the first frame), and then he poured the bio-luminescent dust in a nice circle AROUND the boat.
I’ve always had a thing for mermaid. Ha!
he’s shipped one oar inboard so as to free up his left hand/paw/claw. Boatmen do this occassionally as need calls for it! Note he is using the starboard oar as a paddle to maintain position and prevent the boat from drifting with the current (coracle users in Wales still do this) – essential if he is to preserve the integrity of that magic circle and not have the boat drift out of it!
again i dont follow the story in pictures
please, use a narrative voice and include me in the events.

exemplary and first rate, melvin. i was along the lines of thinking that lord baddun had ordered some fishsticks for a snack.

Ariel is working for the Dark Side?
Abaddon? I didn’t think Abaddon came along until the fifth angel sounded his trumpet…
Nabuquduriuzhur,
That’s the same thing I said to Kevin when I saw this strip.

Whoever she is, she wants to be paid up front…in gold dust, no less.
