I honestly can’t remember if I ever posted this here, so I’m posting it now. This is… if I drew Thundarr my way. (done in the sketchbook, with PITT brush pen and copic markers)

Jason Williams brings us another excellent stint as guest artist on my writing and Don’s colors, continuing Bill & Frank’s realization that it’s just them again on this quest, for now… Great work, Jason!
Next Episode: Thursday – be here! More sketchblog updates (scroll below) coming shortly! P.S. Something was amiss with the site this weekend, and Kevin Vassey’s Gnome Syndicate didn’t run Sunday, so look for it to run either Tuesday or WEDNESDAY this week!
Jason Williams brings us another Saturday installment of the Barwench Tales – and WOW!! Jason, this is by far the MOST IMPRESSIVE Barwench Tales, artistically, I have seen you do yet! It just gets better and better. BRAVO!! And don’t forget, you can see Jason filling in for me on art duties for right now on Legend of Bill (click the header icon!)
A Flair felt-tip pen doodle of Princess Gina in the ye ol’ sketchbook of secrets… but who”s that lil’ guy with her? hm…
I love Doug TenNapel’s webcomic Ratfist webcomic, so I pulled out the extra-large PITT Brush pen and whipped this gritty lil’ sucker up, channeling Doug’s gritty ink work in his comic as a change of pace from my own more controlled linework (John’s Sanford’s Chippy and Loopus comic also inspired me on the brush work as a change of pace in a few sketches – see previous blog post)… anyhoo, if you haven’t already, be sure to check out TenNapel’s excellent Ratfist… if you love the Tick meets Batman meets Calvin & Hobbes meets Earthworm Jim meets Frank Miller’s earlier work, then you will LOVE his comic.
Jason Williams, my stand-in guest artist (I’m writing, Don’s coloring) on these next few Legend of Bill strips, really does a FANTASTIC job of capturing this small moment with Bill and Frank. I LOVE his attention to detail, such as the birds around the trees in the distance. That’s why I’ve asked Jason to draw the backgrounds for a few LoB strips (see the most recent flashback strips) in the recent past. Sometimes, as so much goes on in LoB, I need to get back to the basic of these two buddies, and their quest… that they are simple creatures, sort of walking through a world full of action and turmoil and mystery and questions, and sometimes… they discover there’s a bit more hidden within them, both good and bad. Hey, they say write what you know. Who knew such philosophy would develop in this lil’ ol’ strip. ‘Cause I sure can relate… can you?
Next Episode: Monday, May 16th – sketchblog updates (below) DAILY!
