Jason Williams brings us another excellent stint as guest artist on my writing and Don’s colors, continuing Bill & Frank’s realization that it’s just them again on this quest, for now… Great work, Jason!
Next Episode: Thursday – be here! More sketchblog updates (scroll below) coming shortly! P.S. Something was amiss with the site this weekend, and Kevin Vassey’s Gnome Syndicate didn’t run Sunday, so look for it to run either Tuesday or WEDNESDAY this week!

Right you are, Frank.
GNOOOOOOOOOOOME!!!
Now he shows up!! and great page as always now i cant wait to see what happens.\
Jason the artworks look great!
Indeed, and Bill is actually being INTELLIGENT here. He’s stopped to actually THINK as opposed to just wandering around blindly.
Goooood Morning Billbarians!
GILES! I knew he was hiding in the log. He is hearing every word.
And Frank, dear, sweet, adorable Frank. He’s so right. All they have to do is walk and BOOM they will be in the thick of it.
Love the strip boys!
I don’t think I like Mr William’s work that much… that second panel face is all kinda random, without Bill expressing or even looking at anything in particular.
This is actually quite touching: for the first time, we really see that Bill CARES, as opposed to simply being led around by his unmentionables.
Jason, Bill looks overly goofy in these strips, too cross-eyed. You’re overcompensating a bit and I think this is what’s bothering me – it doesn’t always suit the mood or the speech bubbles. If you could just tone that down a little bit, I’d be as impressed as everyone else is.
two things are in evidence.
first, giles is a dead gnome if bill farts. R.I.P. giles
two, bill is wearing the amulet, that mumbo jumbo rune from Gina.
Thank you for all your kind words lords and ladies. it is fun (nerve racking) to step into davids shoes with these characters. Thanks again.
Spas- i totally agree with you, i think i am becoming more comfortable with the characters, and i think it will start to show. i truly appreciate the honest feedback from you and everyone else. It helps us grow and improve! This “real time” feed back is one of the greatest tools that doing web comics provides us.
Thanks again to David and all of the Billbarians!
@jason, my man of the hour. do you have any gratuitous gossip or rumors of the upcoming LOB. ….. at least in way of shelter or fire building merit bagdes. they look so cold, cold.
Charlie,
Can’t say too much about Thursday, but they are walking in the strip.
If for some reason there are two replies above this I’m not going crazy (already there, not as bad as people make it out to be, btw). It means that the comments are being held for review, or something with the comment system is “borked”. That’s a technical term us IT guys use. Try to use it in your everyday life. Bork, bork, bork. See, not too difficult.
so i tried to use the word BORK today Don, the teller at the bank slapped me, and my wife asked me why i asked the teller to PORK……man bad bad news LOL
i admire your attitude. i’m not always ready to improve, when it comes down to it. in theory, yes yes of course. ha! but i think the brilliance of bill’s design is that his innate goofiness is effortless. this is classic. it’s in the absurdly skinny legs and his inability to connect the dots, which is in turn amplified by frank’s apt observations. but there’s got to be something about bill that’s still attractive enough (were he to keep his mouth shut) to be appealing to both the dark queen and to gina. thus, bill’s character design is critical to the believability of these plot lines, which are on the brink of absurdity as it is. i mean, come on. are the dark queen and gina going to fall in love with bill? or even one of them? maybe if he’s a handsome idiot. not if he’s JUST…a buffoon with a harmless small pet dragon. speaking of which, i wonder if frank doesn’t have any powers, beyond those of observation, which will soon be revealed. anyway…that’s enough over-analysis for now.
TILT
Loved your earlier comment about the crossed eyes, though. Uncross them and Bill would look about twice as smart… in other words, about the level we find him when David draws him.
Frank’s logic is well grounded in situational awareness. I say follow the short blue dragon!
Thanks for the contribution, Jason. Your artwork is great.
It’s almost as if Frank knows that he’s in a comic…..
Comment not about the comic, it’s awesome.
Just happened to read a description at the top of my screen: “Legend of Bill: a fantasy comic for fans of everything from D&D to Warcraft”
I disagree wholeheartedly with this description. D&D and Warcraft aren’t different enough. Legend of Bill is also a comic for fans of things like: Barbarians, swords, dragons, art, comedy, beer (sometimes), Groo, and so many other things.
It would be like saying “the perfect drink for fans of everything from beer to light beer.”
@duckamuck – dont forget the gratuitous amounts of cleavage and an abundance of butt. beer sells. sex sells. violence sells. LOB has the triple crown.
So does occultism… it’s got that too. I’m still waiting for the gratuitous vampires to show up. Wait, Warrix kinda qualifies, doesn’t he?
Frank is so right, just start walking and they’ll find you.. Well done Jason!

The G-Nome looks really small in this one.
Good idea Frank!!!
Meh… not really fancying this guest artist thing. One or two, sure, but three strips? And in chronological order? Feels more like he’s taking over. Its not that he ain’t good or anything, but its definitely a different style and I prefer the original artist’s handiwork. I like LoB, there aren’t many comics with its theme and setting, but I’m not liking this change, nor do I like the slow pace the story has taken on.
@AJ — bork
Jason is good. I enjoy Jason. BUT (there’s always that “but”) the storyline is slow. Don’t blame the messenger for storyline coming to jerking halt. Can you say WHIPLASH.
AJ, i partially agree with you, BUT…if it weren’t for jason filling in, we’d likely have down time right now. consider these strips all BONUS. besides, the guest artist – Jason is not on his high horse, and if you give him specific criticism it appears he will listen, or at least not take offense. though bill is still way too cross-eyed. i think jason likely has less experience than david reddick, yet is interested in improving his skills. and considering where he’s at right now, when he does improve, he will be great. and it’s when, not if, because he’s a)open to criticism and b)honing his craft. do you take criticism well? when it’s general and vague or even if it’s constructive and directed? i don’t in either case. maybe jason’s like bill. happy go-lucky.
Oh, Frank. You’re so vain, you probably think this strip is about you.
