I’ve asked Barwench Tales cartoonist Jason Williams (every Saturday right here at LoB) to fill in for me as artist (I’m writing, Don’s coloring) for a few strips, and I think you’ll agree that he did a GREAT job! Thank you, Jason! You knocked it out of the park!
Next Episode: Thursday – sketchblog updates daily (scroll down!) – and don’t forget the LoB Facebook Fan Page for even more extras!

OH! Giles winked in…that was AWESOME!
Can’t wait to see what happens next guys!
hurry up and wait
Can’t until Thursday episode. The day named after the God Thor, whose movie is pretty good. Then will come later this month Johnny Depp Pirate movie. So I guess we can quench our thirst for LOB with movie tickets.
it’s a good job but not out of the park. bill’s face, frank’s too for that matter, it’s not exactly right. close.
i was RIGHT about her disappearing – yes! my genius knows no boundaries!
Aw, come on… an artist can follow his or her own style, right?
If David thinks Jason knocked it out of the park, I’m inclined to agree with him. Here, have some CocoMocha and Kahlua, c/o Pixie and me.
i’d agree with you about artist interpretation if it wasn’t meant to be canon, and go to print with the rest of it in continuity, if there’s a print version. but maybe you’re right. coco whatever is probably all i need right now. thanks!
jason is damn good.
Awesome job Jason.. Fantastic !!!
Annnd… there’s the gnome.
Don’t know about of the park, a little league field or Yankee Stadium? OK, enough of that. I like Jason’s work, and this shows just how good he is. Don’t know about Frank, but for Bill anything that is big, dumb, somewhat befuddled will work. That is his charm, a man confused in a confusing world, he is Everyman. For another great Dragon and Barbarian pair check out Asprin and Folgio’s “Duncan and Mallory”
Thank you, Billbarians, I am most pleased with Jason’s work… I asked him to work in his own style, which he did splendidly. I picked Jason to fill in as artist for me because of the nature of his expressive drawing, particularly for the Bill and Frank sequence over the next few strips, because it works for me visually as a sort of cousin to my own style, and I love it. Don’s expert colors help blend the transition and it all rocks. And for more of Jason’s work, be sure to click the “Barwench Tales” link above in the header!
Also check out Kevin Vassey’s work on “The Gnome Syndicate,” another artistic relative, that gets better and better. You will be most pleased, I assure you.
Long time reader, first time comment. Enjoy the story of LOB but we are treading water of late. Could not Jason do some story advancement instead of recap what we already know. I’m just saying.
Thank you, yancy, I appreciate your comments, and glad to have you among us. In Jason’s defense, I wrote this strip and directed the art… this is a touching point strip to get us back to Bill and Frank after a few Gnome-themed strips.
This is the shortfall of posting only twice weekly… it advances slower.
There’s no way for me to post more (as someone will ask) until I can make money at this, which appears, absolutely impossible… So it’s a labor of love and I appreciate you all along for the ride.
i appericate all the effort you and the team put into this and appericate all the effort all of you put in thanks guys
Have you considered doing t-shirts? I can’t imagine some comical design featuring Bill, Frank and gang not selling. I’m pretty sure that’s how Jeph Jacques turned qc into a profitable venture, and you can sell with your characters instead of relying on memes. I’m sure you’ll get this figured out, but that seems like a good place to start.
shucks dave, you got a great story going.
The jewel being left behind is new.
Dave feeds us clue after tantalizing clue without unraveling his solution. When the explanation does come, it is followed by a lot of twists and turns and conflicts and the resolution is akin to Gasoline Alley storytelling. All the real action takes place off stage, and we, the reader, has to fill in the story. The Phantom, Prince Valiant others do it. The story moves from one quandary to the next.
Billiards, Herr David, BILLIARDS!!
::: sigh ::: Eh, what’s the use? I’m outvoted, outmanned and outgunned. Maybe we can have Billiards/Billbarians as a parallel to the renowned Trekkers/Trekkies.
Ye Loyal Billiard, (יוחנן רכב)
billard balls?????
Back in the Pre-Reformation Era of this Web site, we had a contest for what Ye Loyal Fans should be called – as you will recall, no doubt. I suggested Billiards in a fit of whimsy and I actually had someone agree with me. Alas, we lost to the much more obvious, but much less delightfully arcane, Billbarians.
So why not Billiards for the rational fans and Billbarians for the… er, rabid ones – as with Trekkers/Trekkies? One likely point of distinction would be the degree and kind of reaction to things like Swirly Boob Plates…
the truth is that you went to college at the age of 13.
@tc: The truth is, no I didn’t, but given the right tutelage I might’ve all but graduated from college at 13.
I’m glad I didn’t, though – social and emotional maturity counts for a lot, too.
Thanks for the kind words all. and thanks to David for the opportunity. Davids boots are mighty big to try and fit in, so i will do my best to not upset you all.
Thanks again
Jason
@jason — you have earned your gold star ★ for today
great strip guys LOB is one dream team web comic keep up the good work
I thought something looked different. Awesome work Jason, can’t wait to see how you do the next couple of strips.

*surrounds DarkMyste with pillows…just in case. Buys Jason a round, takes a nap*
Busy lil Pixie
could be this red jewel be a magic doorway to where Gina/DQ are.
that actually may have some way to be used as a doorway but if now that at first it was her magical communicant device to bill.
i wonder what ever magic was used to combine them could have changed that device. hmm looking glass anyone?
Isn’t that the communication gem Gina gave Bill before they split up all those many moons ago?
yep it is but its gina’s not bills there was 2 of them
Legend of Bill has someof the most astute, thinking readers in webcomics. Of this, I am convinced.
You have no idea how much I LOVE reading each and every comment. Thank you all! Keep ‘em comin’!
if i could blush i would we thank you for you work and your team for making this comic great
speaking of bill, arnold is getting divorce from the kennedy girl.
