Ooooookay. Having seen that third panel for the first time I just had a vision of my own. Knowing Senior Reddick’s twisted sense of humor and general state of thinking, does anyone else see a better resemblance than before? I mean my first thought at seeing that panel was, “Twins separated at birth?”
I am pretty sure that the quote is from a star trek movie. Spok is about to do a mind meld with Bones and then go into the engineering compartment and deal with a radiation leak. It is this mind meld that allows Spok to regain his memory Search for Spok
Cool, now we got us a Vamp Princess and a Princess Vamp! Twill be fun watching the two figure out housing arrangements as a single shared entity in two bodies.
I’m not sure Eolewis. Didn’t he just neck pinch him and tell him, “Remember,” when he did the mind meld thing? IIRC, he put part of his consciousness into McCoy for recovery in a sequel.
Elderac, yep all he said there was “Remember” I believe the quote that is above may have come from The Undiscovered Country and Spock “mentally interrogates” Lt. Valeris, who was in on the plot to keep war going.
But I almost want to say that it went back further to the original series. In any event, it was definitely Spock and Star Trek and the X-men had nothing to do with it, unless they stole it.
Star Trek II, Vulcan Mind Meld with Dr. Bones McCoy, and echoed at the beginning to Star Trek III: The Search for Spock… do you need scene count, too?
And just what are those point redeemable for?
Ladies and gentlemen, there is no real mind meld in STII:TWOK. Spock basically dumbs his info into McCoy’s brain. On the other hand, when Sarek is searching KIRK for Spocks’ memories, that is the Vulcan Mind Meld in STIII:TSFS.
You know this could have a Crichton/Scorpius twist to it or the Baltar/Six connection. Oooo, some fun here if they start talking to each other and arguing about stuff…emotions, attractions…might find out Gina is jealous of Vasheeva’s time with Bill…or Vasheeva discovers deep seated emotions towards or oblivious hero.
Vulcan mind meld, obv. As for the movies, Spock does a mind-meld with V-ger in Star Trek 1. Quite painfully overloads his mind, in fact. Nearly at a fatal level. Had the same symptoms as Gina here, after being violently hurled out of V-ger’s core and being recovered by Enterprise.
oh god, i just thought of what would happen if they tried combining their names, dragon ball z style after they do a fusion ritual…. take the first syllable of Vasheeva, and the last two syllables of Gina (which would be Gina). hilarious, but i don’t think thats what Dave was building up to..
Clearly I need to watch more Star Trek. I confused it for when Jor-El was talking to Clark when he first creates the Fortress of Solitude in the first Superman movie.
Some of you Star Trek geeks are really missing the target. Youl’ll never be firing photon torpedos on my ship!
Interestingly, the lines were dropped as so much excess dramatic baggage in the movies so far as I can review them. Spock only said “Remember!” on ST:TWOK, as has been said. On reviewing the movie tracks on iTunes I find Sarek didn’t need those words in ST:TSFS either – he just made the meld, wordlessly. Nor indeed did Spock in ST:TUC. But I remember the lines from TOS (somewhere) and ST:VOYAGER seems familiar too. Alas, it’s been too long and I don’t have personal archives of those. All Spock Alpha says on Star Trek is “Our minds, one and together.”
No 1000 points for me, but you’d better have a wheelbarrow ready with points for the rest of us.
@Pixie: Captain Kirk would beg to differ with you. He told Dr. McCoy that he was the victim of a Vulcan mind meld. Also it is common knowledge in Star Trek geekdom that a Vulcan mind meld is precisely what is required to transfer the katra. The meld is the technique. What kind of information is transferred or dumped in a meld is what differs. (Younger Spock even got information from a freshly killed Romulan’s brain that way in Star Trek.)
“Girly geekgasm”. Oy gevalt…the last thing I need to think about is a girl having a “-gasm” anything. Still, that’s one more idiom for the files…
I think it is ST:TOS episode ‘Spectre of the Gun’. It was used many places, in a number of variants, but this had it 3 times as Spock ‘programmed’ Checkov, Scotty, and Kirk to ignore the bullets that existed only in their minds.
So if they do combine, we should combine their names too, right? Take the “Va” from “Vasheva” and use all of “Gina,” and the new name would be…. hmmm….
@ Stillcantfindreverse…That is one of my FAVORITE episodes but in actuallity, Chekov does get “shot”. I remember it distinctly because I was freaking out about it. I was watching it on reruns in the 80′s and got all wiggy. But yes he does program Scotty and Kirk (he didn’t need it, natch) to ignore the bullets as you say.
I’m way too late to chime in on the Vulcan mind meld thing. My favorite mind-meld, though, was when Spock mind-melded with the Horta, in “Devil in the Dark”. Great episode!
“No Kill I” indeed!
I know it’s from Star Trek (Spock doing a Vulcan mind meld), but the exact episode/occurrence escapes me.
One nitpick: it’s “whose”, not “who’s”. Who’s = who is. (yeah, I know, can’t help it.)
Vulcan mind meld, of course
1000 points, seriously? Let’s see, you do multiple Star Trek-themed strips… could it be the Vulcan Mind Meld?
Two Words…..MIND MELD!!!!!
Ooooookay. Having seen that third panel for the first time I just had a vision of my own. Knowing Senior Reddick’s twisted sense of humor and general state of thinking, does anyone else see a better resemblance than before? I mean my first thought at seeing that panel was, “Twins separated at birth?”
I’ll take Star Trek mind meld for a thousand Alex.
also…… Despite The Alpha Vulcan Spock Coining the Phrase I keep Hearing Tuvok saying it. Since he said it alot.
More like -1000pts to anyone who can’t tell you it’s from star trek.
Sounds like something Jor-El from the Superman movies would say…
Not positive, but sounds like the Vulcan Mind Meld.
A little vulcan mind meld action going on!
It’s the wording that comes with the Vulcan Mind Meld
easy one …Vulcan mindmelding stuff…you better give me my points!
Hm… It sounds like the prelude to a Vulcan mind-meld, but I could be wrong.
Too easy. So easy that I’ll not spoil the fun for the others.
Live long and prosper.
star trek, what spock says when he does ye olde mind meld
Of course it is Spock when he does the mind meld from Star Trek
I am pretty sure that the quote is from a star trek movie. Spok is about to do a mind meld with Bones and then go into the engineering compartment and deal with a radiation leak. It is this mind meld that allows Spok to regain his memory Search for Spok
“Dagger of the Mind – Star Trek The Original Series” aired November 3, 1966
Good Ol’ Brando.
Really looking forward to where this is going! Never thought the spell would wear off/down.
Didn’t Spock say that when he mindmelded with Kirk?
Cool, now we got us a Vamp Princess and a Princess Vamp! Twill be fun watching the two figure out housing arrangements as a single shared entity in two bodies.
no idea, but i like stranger in a strange land references!
And this is why you never mind-meld with a time lord.
Great Strip just AWESOME !!! Vulcan Mind meld saying
The title is from a Vulcan mind-meld chant, I believe.
Spock in Star Trek: TOS — it’s the standard incantation at the beginning of the Vulcan Mind Meld.
I can’t believe I am the first to say. You guys must hold back comments or something.
Vulcan Mind Meld!
YAY! New Comc with a Star Trek element to it! *Girly Geekgasm!*
It’s the Vulcan mind meld, of course. What episode/film did you have in mind?
That last panel is bound to raise many theories before Thursday…
x-men #3 got to love google
Spock performing the Vulcan Mind Meld, done in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Kahn to Dr. Lenoard McCoy down in Engineering before fixing the warp coil.
I’m not sure Eolewis. Didn’t he just neck pinch him and tell him, “Remember,” when he did the mind meld thing? IIRC, he put part of his consciousness into McCoy for recovery in a sequel.
x-men#3? Really? snicker, snicker Thus illustrates the perils of using Google as a replacement for actual real knowledge….
Elderac, yep all he said there was “Remember” I believe the quote that is above may have come from The Undiscovered Country and Spock “mentally interrogates” Lt. Valeris, who was in on the plot to keep war going.

And upon further research, that is EXACTLY what happened! http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Vulcan_proverbs
I’ll say, for 1000 points, “Dot and the Kangaroo”
you know, you might be right and I mixed my 2 favorite movies…
Star Trek II, Vulcan Mind Meld with Dr. Bones McCoy, and echoed at the beginning to Star Trek III: The Search for Spock… do you need scene count, too?
And just what are those point redeemable for?
That last panel is gorgeous, Don! Great job!!
Since we seem to be talking about Star Trek… is this your impression of the Mutara Nebula?
Vulcan mind meld as was shown in n Star Trek 2 The Wrath of Khan.
just to clarify I am talking the x-men #3 comic with a publishing date of January 1964
what a lesbian epoch. The combining of two women personalities and memories will ushered in an mutual single personality as seen by two lovers.
very interesting, dave.
Ooops! My Nerd is showing!
*whaps Charlie with a wand* Speak ENGLISH!
Does this mean Gina will know of the Billzerker, since she’s getting Vasheeva’s memories, and Vasheeva will get Gina’s memories?
Vulcan mind meld, obv. As for the movies, Spock does a mind-meld with V-ger in Star Trek 1. Quite painfully overloads his mind, in fact. Nearly at a fatal level. Had the same symptoms as Gina here, after being violently hurled out of V-ger’s core and being recovered by Enterprise.

Are they gonna merge or something?
Some of you Star Trek geeks are really missing the target. Youl’ll never be firing photon torpedos on my ship!

Spock mind melds with the tunneling rock creature the lays silcone eggs
@Pixie — i am so corrigible
you refer to “Devil in the dark” which first aired in 1967, three years after 1964
Star Trek. Barbarians. Comics. Damn, I love you geeks.
Kramegame, forsooth! Now you’ve ruined what little respect I still had for these half-naked women.
We love you too, David and Don.
@Pixie: Captain Kirk would beg to differ with you. He told Dr. McCoy that he was the victim of a Vulcan mind meld. Still, that’s one more idiom for the files…
*hands on hips glowers at Johanan* Are you calling my Geek Girldom into question? HUMPH! *goes under Don’s Hat*
Ah ah, looks like we got a Vasheeva-Gina hybrid coming up. Hope you don’t call her Vagina. Wait a minute, that was your plan all along wasn’t it ?
@Johanan – Uh oh, I think you made Pixie mad…
@El Chorizo – i chortle gleefully at your post and echoed her name out loud, “Vagina.”
I think it is ST:TOS episode ‘Spectre of the Gun’. It was used many places, in a number of variants, but this had it 3 times as Spock ‘programmed’ Checkov, Scotty, and Kirk to ignore the bullets that existed only in their minds.
@Pixie and Don: No, I’m not calling Pixie’s girly you-know into question. On the contrary, I’m saying it’s all too, er, potent.
On the other hand, if she comes up with data to the contrary, this geek (comme d’habitude) will admit error faster than The Phantom throws punches…
So if they do combine, we should combine their names too, right? Take the “Va” from “Vasheva” and use all of “Gina,” and the new name would be…. hmmm….

P.S. I love the name, GREAT song!!!

“No Kill I” indeed!
