The beginning of the process… Legend of Bill done traditionally…

I’m enjoying creating these new Legend of Bill strip on board… here’s a shot of how they look in their most bare-bones state (the top strip being tomorrow’s strip)… tomorrow’s LoB finished and in the capable hands of the wizard Don Kuehn now!

*Point of irony: I went and bought a pad of Canson’s “Fanboy” comic strip boards. Incidentally, I was hired as a consultant/designer for Canson a few years back, and I actually designed the very templates within all the Fanboy line of pads, and I drew/wrote the instructional comic strip on the inside front flap (NOT the one on the COVER) of this very comic strip board PAD!!

Huh, small world eh?
Wow! Two years ago I bought one of those. I just ran and looked at it (it is in my closet…I only did one page, not feeling “worthy” to use it on a regular basis
) I totally see your style in that instructional comic! Thanks for pointing that out. Maybe I will feel more comfortable using it now that I can follow your directions! LOL.
Ha! Awesome, Dede! I encourage you to get it back out and practice! Fill every page, not worrying about how good or bad it is. You can either leave it in a closet and acheive nothing, or get it out and see where the adventure takes you. Choose the latter!
Thanks for the advice David! I am so inspired by you, Don, Jason, Kevin, and the amazing and talented Casey! I think I will have a go at drawing some ideas I have for it. Do you recommend plotting it out in a sketchbook first, or just experimenting directly with the strip boards?
Dave…I’ve use those Canson boards to produce Tales of a Checkered Man from day 1! =o)
Wow, that’s pretty cool! I use those comic strip boards all the time (it’s easier and faster then me trying to draw my own boxes).
I plan out the comic in a notebook as thumbnails myself. Much easier since I don’t want to waste boards on practice.
