Artistic barbarian Kevin Vassey brings us another Sunday installment of The Gnome Syndicate, showing us what life is like for those pesky-peeping-tom gnomes (and fairies and elves to boot) back at the offices of The Gnome Syndicate! Gawd this is fun! I’m loving watching these characters introduce themselves and start to grow – stay tuned every Sunday! And don’t forget Jason William’s Barwench Tales on Saturdays, and of course the flagship Legend of Bill on Mondays and Thursdays (um, *cough* forgiving my track record these past few weeks)
And remember that at the Legend of Bill Facebook Fanpage, we all (myself, Don, Jason and Kevin) show sketches and news and interact and have some fun – so come join the party at the FB Inn! (Kevin just posted some cool sketches of an upcoming strip if you enjoy seeing how this stuff comes together!)

When you introduce yourself as “the best there is” the odds that that’s true are vanishingly small. As is he. Well, in certain ways, i rather expect….
FYI – Got a Trojan blocked from your site this morining.
Ha! This comic is really finding it’s stride. Good work. Shows that men in all species can be douchey.
Just how many gnomes are there in the gnome syndicate?
sweet Kevin, Gnomes equal the funny!
Why is he hitting on Giles assistant? Isn’t there some sort of rule about that? Oh well, nice work Kevin.
@Smallnote- more that you might think.
I’m sorry but I came to read Legend of Bill, you know, a story about a barbarian? Why all the lame side comics! Your main story is excellent but we haven’t really seen more than 1 comic of plot progression in weeks or longer! But barwench tales and gnomes are making it allright? Sorry but ill return when the comic promised is actually done and interesting again. Hopefully C rank character side comics are gone.
Oh he’s so smug :3
WORST GNOME EVER!!!
@ Anonymousman: I’m amused that anyone reading a free comic has grounds to be critical on the direction the author is taking. Big deal he has side quests running…big deal the core story is taking a bit longer to progress. I understand that constructive critisim is an exellent method of improving an authors work but when you bitch & moan that he’s not updating the storyline you want to read fast enough, all I have to say to that is “It’s free, write your own comic if it’s that big a deal…maybe, just maybe….the author has a busy schedule just like everyone else in the world and can’t spend all his not-so-free-time working on this comic which he is awesome enough to supply to everyone here at no cost.”
Awesome job on LoB so far by the way
@anonymousman- If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t post a comment. Besides, no one said that you had to read them.
Why would anyone think that David could complete the story faster if these “side comics” weren’t running? At least this way we get a few extra chuckles out of the deal. No disrespect meant to you, David.
Thank you, guys. When you’ve got 3 kids, a day job, other comics, and a plethora of daily personal items to contend with that get the best of you at times, you do the best you can.
This is my labor of love, the one thing I don’t do for money. I am honored that you spend your time with me, and I am honored to have Don, the awesome and ever-so-talented colorist, Jason, the excellent Barwench Tales (and Star Wars cartoonist), and Kevin, the excellent Gnome Syndicate cartoonist (and Dreamworks Supervising Animator) all traveling this quest like a band of D&D characters, sitting with me at the LoB Inn, along with the rest of you, telling tales of glory and adventure about the vast and never-ending Billverse, where legends are born, heroes are made, barwenches are loved, orcs are smacked, and cookies and milk are consumed!
agree with pixie and fijiman. free content is not something i’m going to be complaining about, UNLESS the artist goes on four month long hiatuses without bothering to notify the readers, like undertow. or cancels the comic and takes down the website for the silliest reasons, like aether. and there aren’t five million fantasy-style webcomics in really high quality, so let’s try to encourage the artists who are doing this kind of thing to stick with it, with blind, sycophantic praise. you are not required to think – this is almost mindless entertainment. just enjoy. it really is that easy!
Thank you, spas. And I agree; if you’re going to be on a long hiatuses, at least post something telling readers what’s going on. That way we don’t think the artist is giving up on their work.
In regards to anonymous, there was an interview with Neil Geiman a few years back that put things in a proper perspective:

Scroll down to the letter from the George Martin fan whining about the wait for the next “Song of Ice and fire” book.
In short “Dave Reddick is not your bitch”.
