The new Barwench Tales side comic on Saturdays has proven quite popular, exploring a favorite LoB character we didn’t wanna let go, as also noted by its Saturday traffic… maybe I should start a “Tales of the Gnomes” Sunday guest installment, exploring more of the background of the Gnomes in the billverse, and the Gnome Syndicate… I’m thinking office humor, such as the inter-office dealings of what it’s like to work for the Gnome Syndicate…
Would having weekend strips throw off the main comic’s flow to you? (I don’t feel Saturday Barwench Tales does at all… it’s like an intermission, such as the old 3-minute action cartoons Hanna Barbera would slip into the main cartoon on a Saturday Morning!) and reaction to Barwench Tales has been FANTASTIC!!
What do you think? Who would draw it? Should I have a “try-out” contest? That’d be fun… hm… just thinking aloud (LoB is nothing if not interactive and open to new ideas when it comes to growing this Legendary universe in all directions!
Discuss!

I have GNOME problem with it because it would boldly go where GNOME cartoonist has gone (within the Billverse) before.
sorry, but i cannot beat that post!!!
HAHA!
Bring on the GNOMES!! Actually, I thing a gnome comic would be a blast!!
Bad pun= epic laughs, EvilSupahFly. I salute you for your wittiness.
I think weekend comics done by fans or you and Don would be a completely epic idea. My vote is for either the “Tales of the Gnome” idea or “Random Art Sunday.”
Yes. Gnomes on Sunday. But please, no bikinis. I don’t think we’d recover from the shock.
Oh, give me a gnome
That is destined to roam
On the heels of a nerd and a geek.
However well drawn,
Still, the trio’s been spawned
By a wannabe D&D freak.
Oh, oh what dismay!
I guess it just doesn’t pay
To sit on this stool
And then act like a fool,
Writing parodies day after day.
(And… that… ain’t… hay!)
I hab Gnome problem wit’ dat a’troll.
Actually, I view the Gnome Syndicate as more a cross between the Monsters Inc. Child Detection Agency and the Goblin banking hierarchy from Harry Potter. I mean, c’mon, they’re an extra-juridical, independent, ubiquitous species that has to cope with all the messiest magical insanities that exist in their world. The main office has to look (and operate) something like the afterlife bureaucracy from Beetlejuice.
If there is to be a Tails of the Gnome franchise, I’d certainly want to see all sorts of cute and shmekzie faeries and pixies flitting about the place. I agree the Sunday spot, if you open it up, should be something of a clearing house for random artwork and strips that flesh out the Billverse rules.
Since you can’t include all the inner workings of the Billverse in the normal strip (without going into absurd and lengthy digressions), I’d suggest only One Rule to Bind Them All: whatever is published should adhere to, reveal and establish Billverse canon that we may assume holds true for the main LoB strip. Along with Barwench Tales, this could be a way to tie the entire franchise together and unify it for *hint hint* stuff like rules for card games …
I love the idea! The Bill Universe is ever expanding and the gnomes seem to be a fun fit. I’d try out.
*dancing in place* Uh uh uh…..YES! I need this to happen!!!!
*flits all happy and junk*
Is there a chance that the programming on the website could be sophisticated enough for the “previous” and “next” buttons to stay within the storyline you are currently viewing instead of going day-by-day? So I could just read all the Barwench Tales, and then I could read all the Gnome Syndicate comics, and then I could read the Bill storyline. Just a thought.
EXCELLENT!! I’ll have you know I have a few people trying out already (they’ve contacted and expressed interest)…. if you are interested, I’d love to see your work, and I’ll run them here and we’ll have asome fun with it!
(still trying to wash the image of a gnome in a bikini from my mind – yes, it’s all my fault)
Glad to see Bill back as your avatar, David!
