Now only if Bill had a spear to go with the magic helmet! that is if of course by touching Vorik, Bill gains some sort of magical powers due to it being unstable now and all.
Uh oh, now Bill is linked to The Dark Queen’s past? Is Bill’s bumbling somehow the cause of her downfall? She’s innocent “now” (and just out of camera) but I assume soon-to-fall. Is this why she has the hots on for Bill in the present?
It looked like it was as painful for Vorik as it was for Bill. At the very least, it mussed up his hair. I wonder if this is the achilles heal in Vorik’s power. If so, Bill suceeded, despite his idiocy.
The question is, what does being “linked” to the past mean? Are we talking Bill’s body being trapped in the past or simply his spirit? And why necessarily the past? If time flows differently due to dark magic, couldn’t Bill also be linked to the future?
i fear you are forgetting the humor part and embarking in the usual fantasy part. being ironic about fantasy it’s much more clever then writing one, they are all the same all the time.
__@leo:__ Somehow I don’t think this is going to be as generic-fantasy as it looks. Not with Bill thrown in the soup… that alone is being ironic about fantasy.
On a sad note, I’m apparently banned from the forum for being a spammer… I have NO idea why though. I was going to post an update about my friend’s Vasheeva tattoo and got the banned message.
Topazert: Agreed – to a point! But I think Bill would still mess it up even with a Statement of Full Disclosure printed out and right in front of his eyes! (It would just take longer to be funny, that’s all. )
Great commments and feedback as always, gang! And Leo, no worries… Bill isn’t forgetting the humor part, not by a longshot… I like to think perhaps the “adventure” is stepping up more, but the humor is completely there, as that’s just how I write and think! (But I do l oves me some epic drama, too, which is one of the things I love about Fantasy, however, I like to think LoB isn’t run-of-the-mill fantasy! ) Thanks for the great feedback!
The time trap has been set; paradox closing in 3 … 2 ….
lulz @Frank – aka, Captain Obvious of the Redundancy Department of Redundancy Division.
I can only agree with several other comments today: the facial expressions are getting better & better! In the sketch preview yesterday I suggested that Vorik might be turning Bill into Stimpy … but the second panel profile of him today looks even more Stimpy-like!
@Old_Crow – I’d say the “link” is within time … future and past no longer occur in “normal” precedence of cause & effect. Knowledge from the future has now contaminated the past, which will now affect the timeline from past into the future. Somehow, the paradox must resolve; there are many theories how (or if) that might occur. We will now be treated to the story of how/if that happens by Billverse rules.
@Dongle – I think you’re onto something, there. I’ve been puzzled by the Dark Queens obsession with Bill. I can see some aspect of this linking within time explaining that. At least, a little bit …
@Topazert – If we didn’t have Bill to kick around ..? It’s his destiny to be the lovable doofus in this story; we just watched him seal his fate …
@everyone – as Insectoid wrote: get thee hence to Jackie Rose by Josh Ulric. Special treat for LoB fans!
@leo – I think what makes LoB so great is the balance of the two. If it were all slapstick, it’d be tedious. If it were all Drama Llama, same thing. Bill gives us just the right balance.
OTOH, we -have- been sitting here in this gypsy tent, getting our fortune told, for nearly three months now. . . .
@Dongle- You’re right, their eyes DID switch! I wonder what interesting plot twist this will incur.
And for a third time; Vorik is FURIOUS now. And I think that the risk of becoming linked to the past would have been a reason worth a “don’t touch anything” warning from Gypsy.
@Dongle and Fijiman – No sinister plot twists with the eyeball “switching”, David adds the iris for dramatic effect (anger, shock, etc.) or extreme close ups.
Maybe the eye switch means Bill now has part of Vorik’s power, which in turn is why Vasheeva is obsessed with him. She just tried to marry Bill too early from Bill’s timeline perspective.
@Rachel: Merely touching the ground apparently isn’t a problem around Visionary Vorik, just like merely touching the ground isn’t a problem around a high-voltage wire. That doesn’t mean you want to touch the wire, do you? That would put you in trouble, ’cause then you’re “grounded”… hehehe…
@Fijiman:: Uh, we heard you the first time. But what matters now is what Lord Tylenol, er, Vorik can do about it – not what he’d like to to about it.
Whatever happens on Monday, we all agree that Bill’s in for a shock.
It’s been bothering me that Vorik zoned in on Bill first. I would have expected that Gypsy, as the spellcaster, would have got Vorik’s Spidey senses tingling with the magic use.
Then … I recall that Bill has a fairly powerful magic wand stashed upon his person. Somewhere. *Please-of-please hoping desperately it be in his boot, and not of the British sort!*
Wondering if Vorik picked up on the presence of a magic object, as opposed to magic use by a creature/being …
@Insectoid – You are correct, Bill’s eyes are blue, just like Gina’s. Vorik also has blue eyes, he’s the blonde haired, blue eyed heroic type gone bad.
@ Don – Nothing sinister?!? You can hardly turn around without tripping over something sinister here. Its evil I tells ya, eeviiill!!
@ Insectoid – Yeah, but Bill is linked to the past Vorik now. And he got linked -in- the past, right? Like, prolly, way before he and Frank even set out on this adventure. (Do we know how far in the past this scene is?) So, he’s had the Evil Iris Switch ™ the whole time now. Where do you think the “Serial Killer Eyes” came from?
Vorik doesn’t look happy, to say the least. “What should I do now? Offer a Dragon Burger?”
You fool!!!
Umm. Maybe this explains why Bill’s been headed for a confrontation with Vorik in his present. Instant prophecy, just add Bill…
Ha,ha,ha!
BTW David, you should check out what Josh Ulrich posted at his site!
Legend of Bill: A Link to the Past!

Vorik and Bill switched eye-color. . . .
It looked like it was as painful for Vorik as it was for Bill. At the very least, it mussed up his hair. I wonder if this is the achilles heal in Vorik’s power. If so, Bill suceeded, despite his idiocy.

I hadn’t noticed the icon on Vorik’s shirt until now.
Reminds me of my daughter sicking the keys in the light socket “Hot Hands daddy Hot hands”
Dude….wow. Vorik is TICKED! You guys better high tail (Ha Unintentional Frank Reference!) it outta there!
__@leo:__ Somehow I don’t think this is going to be as generic-fantasy as it looks. Not with Bill thrown in the soup… that alone is being ironic about fantasy.
Whys everyone so hard on Bill? Its the gypsies fault for not stateing all this crap in the first place!!!
I love the faces in this one. Very nice work.

… but he touched the ground, didn’t he? lol
I agree, the face shots are draw really well here, David! Eeh, this is getting exciting!

Well, congrats, Bill, you just bought a timeshare with Vorik. And like a timeshare, it ain’t gonna be easy to unload!

@Rizban – I posted in the forum topic about your friend getting a Vasheeva tattoo to help send out a ‘distress signal’ for you.
I’m VERY interested in an update!
Hope that gets fixed up soon!

Uh… so Bill will now be able to channel Vorik? Is this going to be like Harry Potter and Voldemort being linked?
Maybe the eye switch means Bill now has part of Vorik’s power, which in turn is why Vasheeva is obsessed with him. She just tried to marry Bill too early from Bill’s timeline perspective.

@Dongle: I don’t think Bill’s eyes changed at all; he has blue eyes waayyyyy back in this strip.
@Don- That makes sense. Still excited about Monday’s comic.

(just kidding)
