Next Episode: Monday, June 28th (unless I go crazy and do one for Thursday ’cause I’m itchin’ to tell the story – the week will tell!)- sketchblog updates daily!
Bill can totally defeat Vorik! Vorik may have his evil intellect, but Bill has a heart of gold, although his stomach for Dragon Burgers may overpower it.
The swamp rat is the “magical object!” And, seemingly (so far) an unwitting one. What did he do? Swallow the One Ring?
Vorik’s long, flowing cape of hair in panel 1 reminds me of Lucius Malfoy, including that same haughty look of arrogance. Hey, Vorik, is that a battle-rat in your pocket, or are you just enraged to see me ..?
That isn’t, by chance, Bob the Beholder, or one of his relatives ..?
Yes, Vorik very much has that haughty, arrogant thing going on… but will Vasheeva, or the King, see it in time?
And ahhh, Gork… more than meets the eye in you, we see…
I have to revise something I said in the comments of the previous strip: “Vorik & Warrix are the same being.”
I’ve thought of a mechanism now by which they could still be two different beings. As Warrix could be Sauron, so could Vorik be a Nazgûl, of sorts. I’m still leaning toward them being the same, but it’s no longer definitive.
Why would a magical rat be just wandering conveniently about, waiting for someone to discover & use him ..? If swamp rats are such a powerful source of magic, there’d be an awful lot of Voriks running about the Billverse.
Gork is somewhat more unique than first meets the eye, m’thinks. Wheels within wheels driven by gears within gears. Makes my head hurt for an ale and my tummy grumble for habeñero DragonBurgers™.
Sooo… what would everyone think of a Legend of Bill RPG Card Game? Hm? Or a d20 game? Or both? Asking here, informally, out of the blue, without making any official declarations in the blog. Whomever crosses this, what say you? I think there’s enough lore happening at this point (with new twists and additions within a game as well) to ask this question. Or perhaps its alreay in the works? Ah, the mystery of it all! What say you, Billians?
I’ll also be making that Gina wallpaper I made a few months back available here. I had no idea at the time there were varied hurdles to cross to get it. Look for it soon in the downloads section with the new map and new Vorik vs. Dragon wallpaper!
Well, looks like I called it last time as far as what Borax, er, Vorix would do with the Swamp Thing, er, Swamp Rat. Occam’s Razor strikes again.
Sorry to drop in so late, fellow Billoids, on this thread. But the comic looks tres cool as usual. (I’d award all those bonus points to the second panel. The third is just fancy icing on the cake to round off the dramatic arc.)
In case my attempt to insert italics via coding doesn’t work… how are some of you inserting italics and other things here?
A LoB RPG Card Game sounds like a money-making and fun idea, but I’ll never have time to play it… just making my dorky comments here takes up too much time.
@ 3Xp4t Thanks for the mention of “Bob the Beholder.” Now I’ve got another webcomic archive to work through, and though it’s going to take me a while, the laughs are worth it.
Yeah I’m a semi geek girl. I have no plans on watching everything SyFy puts out (they’re trickedme for the last time!….The Chupacabra….really?! leave my childhopod terrors alone!), I don’t do any gaming anymore and I don’t speak elvish or klingon. Maybe that makes me a Quasi/Semi Geek Girl. Dunno, Don’t care…Love LoB!
@Hoomi (&@all) — http://yafgc.net/ (Yet Another Fantasy Gamer Comic) has a deep archive, hundreds of strips. The humor is top-notch geek-oriented Dungeons & Dragons stuff, horrible puns, some nice slice-of-life stuff … just highly recommended.
If you love Bill, you’ll love YAFGC; it’s a rich & full world. Suggest you take your time and enjoy taking the archives in bites; it’s a lot to absorb and savor. They’ve put out a strip a day, 7 days a week with rarely a miss, for a few years now.
And, if you’re like me & love sketchwork, the artwork developed rapidly & is a real pleasure to behold.
Might be a good time to visit the forum & let’s get a thread running on recommended comics. I’ve got ~100 I follow & am always looking for for new ones & others I’ve missed until now.
I’ve finished the archives of YAFGC (it did take a lot longer than catching up completely on LoB). The only caveat I’d give in recommending it to others is that it does cross over a bit into ‘R’ rated content, which some folks don’t appreciate. I figure as long as people know it’s there, they can choose to check out the comic or not, and not get upset with me if they such things upset them.
Hey David, I know I haven’t commented here in awhile but I read every strip you post..Can’t wait to see what happens next! Are you attending any conventions this year? I’ll be going to Vegas in August again of course..

So, is the message of this strip that Duty is in the Eye of the Beholder?

The real Magic behind the man
Vorik kinda looks and ‘feels’ like the Lucias Malfoy character in Harry Potter.
Ratbert, is that you?
Yes, Vorik very much has that haughty, arrogant thing going on… but will Vasheeva, or the King, see it in time?
And ahhh, Gork… more than meets the eye in you, we see…
Yikes! That beastie in the last panel…the cyclops from “Monsters, Inc” and the floating critter from “Big Trouble in Little China” had a baby!
The CBS EYE just got ugly!
Cagney’s most misquoted lines; he never actually said, “MMMmmm, you dirty rat!”,
Wikipedia
@DadaHyena…I was thinking the SAME thing! I love that movie. Big Trouble is BIG time Cheesy B Movie…just the way I like them.
Dave the strip is amazing as always and I am on pins and needles to see how it unfolds.
I agree with 3X; Vorik totally has the Lucius look!

Happy Solstice Day, everybody! Dance nekkid around a bonfire under the midnight stars tonight!
In my dreamwishes … my heart of hearts knows that Gypsy certainly is.
Panel three. Full of win. +2,000 exp. pts.
Oh halo thar!
Thanks, Zak!
(or maybe not?) heehee
And 3X – heehee… love your comment… you are shamlessly astute… but, hm… sometimes a rat… is just a rat.

LoB expansion for “Munchkin”?

Johanan, excellent observations and thoughts. And thanks on the game, etc. I will keep you all posted!
Hoomi: LOL!
Vorik, with his knight gear on, reminds me of a diabolical Dirk the Daring.
DS game!!!!! I need LoB as a DS game! You can switch off and play as Bill, Frank, Gina and the Gypsy (What is her name again?) *Geek Girl Squee*
“Geek Girl Squeal”??? Pixie darlin’, some day I gotta meet you.
Legend of Bill d20 Card Game™ ideas & discussion, if anyone is interested, in the LoB forum … beware the Smurfarvelous Squirrel Dragon!!
@ 3Xp4t Thanks for the mention of “Bob the Beholder.” Now I’ve got another webcomic archive to work through, and though it’s going to take me a while, the laughs are worth it.
The storyline is cool, but I’m more for the outrageous antics of Bill and Frank.
Johanan You big fooler! Makin Da Pixie blush!

Lord Vorik looks a lot like Lucius Malfoy from the ‘Harry Potter’ films, though I’m betting you were going more for the Fabio look!
