We all knew there would be something wrong with the horse. Choosing narcolepsy was unexpected, therefore really funny. Careful, though. I half expect someone from the Narcoleptic Association piping up to tell you that laughing at a disease is insensitive.
Is that mushroom housing I see in panel one? It’s very small and slightly blurred on my screen but I’d swear I see a handicap ramp leading up to a tiny doorway.
Yeah right, seems like you nailed the horse to me. I now implore you to send me some of your mad drawing skills. Funny stuff, David. The trip could take an unexpected longer than usual amount of time.
Bob: Even his SLEEPING boble steed!
Old_Crow: lol – I’m not too worried about overly-sensitive groups. It’s all in fun. And seriously, tho – who would want to ride a narcoleptic horse?
And VERY good eye. Those are indeed mushroom houses. Can anyone tell me from whence they came? (search your pop culture trivia banks!)
But no – that isn’t a handicap ramp. Just a nice lil sidewalk!
DadaHyena: (checked out today’s comic btw – loved it – now I”m curious what’s going on in her mind too – must tune in!) – Thanks very much – horses: hard to draw. But very rewarding and fun! And yes, horses in contorted poses? even harder! LOL
MJ: Thanks muchly! haha
Narcolepsy usually requires an emotional trigger, so what did the horse get excited about? Perhaps it’s happy to leave town. Any little blue people with white hats coming?
“La-LA-lalalala-LA-lala-LA-la!” THE SMURFS! (Love those little blue beings!) And I didn’t think horses could suffer from…[ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ]…{SNORT!} Sorry. Where was I?
With regard to your remark about the difficulty of drawing horses: Sendak originally planned “Where The Wild Things Are” to be “Where The Wild Horses Are”. He changed it after he discovered he couldn’t draw horses.

You’re thinking of cataplexy, a condition that often comes with narcolepsy. While I don’t think horses are one of the animals that can be narcoleptic, this is still adorable.
“And where would a brave knight be without his noble steed?”

Drawing horses is hard, but drawing them in that sort of contorted pose takes some real skill! Good job, David.
