God I’m having fun with some of my fave webcomic references in these current strips that started here (and a lil’ action chick fave blog reference.
)… Hope you enjoy the little details – look closely!
The story so far: Poor Princess Gina… trapped in the Dark Queen Vasheeva’s body (not to mention in her lair), she just needs to find something a little more sensible to wear before she and the wizard Craven here head to the Frozen Wastes up north, leaving the Dark Lands (or CAN she even leave?) to look for her own body, not to mention Bill, and all she can find are other webcomic characters outfits in the Dark Queen’s closet!! (not to mention a few disturbing stuffed animals in her room… I guess even evil girls will still be girls…)
I want to thank Don Kuehn, LoB colorist once again for such a fantastic job on the coloring, and so quick, too. Not unlike Gandolf raises his wand to cast spells, so too does the wizard Kuehn raise his stylus to color an otherwise black and white realm of fantasy and mayhem!
Next episode: Monday, January 11th – do NOT miss THIS! SKETCHBLOG updated pretty much daily!
References in this comic: The Action Chick from Action Flick Chick, Future Zintiel from Flaky Pastry, McPedro from Girls with Slingshots, Lorraine’s shirt form 1977, Imy from Imy, Clovis from Imagine This!

congrats on a schedule. the story is lumping along. i like the artwork and characters very much. i feel that the story is forgotten. the storyline is like watching a herd of cats. every which way the plot moves. of course, i love the artworkand will stay. this is so much better than guest cartoonist. lets rock and roll.
I don’t know who the Rambo-style bird is, but I *do* recognize (in order of appearance) McPedro from Danielle Corsetto’s “Girls with Slingshots” and Clovis (how appropriate!) from Lucas Turnbloom’s “Imagine This“; while Gina herself has taken a wardrobe tip from Irma E.’s “Imy“. Vasheeva Rawks! (And so does Gina!)
Hah! Awesome. Clovis looks good in his viking helmet, btw.
I LOVE it when my favorite webcomics have background/foreground characters from my other favorite webcomics!
That’s Oliver from Goats, isn’t it?
Yes! I knew she’d look good in the ROCK tee! So cool! Thanks David!!! And I love Craven’s last line and that facial expression!
Loving the IMY outfit! But who belongs to the 1977 T-shirt?
Ah. We have met Craven and he is us. Distracted and wanting more. I am excited to see the upcoming “do not miss” installment (as if I would miss any).
I am enjoying the webcomic fashion show but I’m also anxious to get this campaign started. At the very least, I am eager to see David’s final design for Gina’s travelling clothes.
Haha! I just realized that Reynard’s link to me has an accidental “L” at the end of it sending it to a very old strip of mine! Could you fix that? I wouldn’t want that to be people’s first impression of Imy LOL
Hey, the first costume is the future version of Zintiel, from Flaky Pastry.
“Can You Try On All Bazillion”? Amen brother… amen!
Great Stuff !!!!
McPedro!!!!!!!!
(dont know who mcpedro is? click the link in my name)
Irma: “I just realized that Reynard’s link to me has an accidental ‘L’ at the end of it sending it to a very old strip of mine!”
Sorry about that! Don’t know where that came from…
SQUEE! webcomics family reunion! *hugs*
Great stuff ;0)
LOL! I know that bear!!
oh man, so much going on, awesomely well done
he’s a little pervy, huh?
tennessee charlie: I confess I totally agree. As LoB has been once a week for awhile, it’s been a killer trying to get her out of that dungeon when I have things i wanna say while she’s there to set up things to come. Not to worry, though, the story will be moving aling nicely very very soon. But I confess, I’m loving these lil’ tribute strips. Another Monday and onward we go. It’s too much fun!!

reynard61: ha! Thanks! see the text under the strip for a listing of a who’s who!
Chris Watkins: Thanks, bud! Yeah, that barbarian helmet and sword suit Clovis! lol
Quinn Harle: Me too!
Brian: Nope. But good guess!
Irma: Thanks, Irma! (Irma’s character Imy’s outfit is in panel 3!)
Nicholas Roche: Yo Nick! That 1977 shirt belongs to Lorraine from the webcomic http://www.1977thecomic.com by Byron Wilkins – love that comic.
Old_Crow: LOL! Thanks, Old Crow! Yes, he is a guy under all that serious wizardness. lol And you will soon see this show hit the road finally… not to mention Gina’s final outfit for the road. already have it ready to go. using an outfit I posted in the sketchblog awhile back, with a few minor tweaks.
Irma: Best impression of Imy (one of my favorite webcomics, btw) is http://www.imycomic.com
YeahStriker: Well done, Striker! ding ding ding ding ding! You win!
doubledcomics: LOL
Utahrogue: Thanks, pal!
gweezer: Ha! Thanks, Danielle! (See Danielle’s character who appears in the strip in panel 1, “McPedro” the cactus at http://www.girlswithslingshots.com)!
reynard61: Hey, you were excited to share the goodness!
dgriff13: YES! I frankly just love drawing other people’s characters.
Luke: “Luke, I am your fath-a…” (sorry, man, couldn’t help myself) See Luke’s bear in panel 3 at his awesome webciomic, one of my favorites, at http://www.imaginethiscomic.com !
scotticus fergisus: Thanks very much!

Ha,ha,ha good stuff man. Holy Jumping, the comics are coming…
YAY..She looks great in the IMY outfit !!
Hey David! I’ve been super busy with website design for clients and just got back here to finally post a comment. Lovin’ you put Lorraine’s shirt in the comic! Nicely done my friend! I’ll work up a way to bring Bill and the gang by for a visit the year 1977 somehow. I’ve done weirder things…
Thx for turning me on to 1977, Dave. It IS a cool comic!
But now that makes FIVE strips to follow here! (LOB, IMY, 1977, and of course GJ and R&B!)
lol its McPedro!!!!! i found this through Danielle’s webcomic and i must say its very funneh! kinda reminds me of that cute cartoon dave the barbarian but anyways! i love your artwork and the story or the randomness of it!! im rooting for the evil queen of course caze she is too sexshy!
so i suppose theres gonna be lots and lots of heavy drinkin’ caze McPedro can only bestow his words of wisdom on totally wasted characters
I’m loving this Vampire Queen…
I actually thought the “ROCK” shirt was from Lise Myrhe’s “Nemi” comic, but I guess it’s a popular enough style to appear anywhere (maybe Garfield should wear one!).
