As dorky as this sounds, one of the things I love about fantasy are the endless “outfits” and possibilities that go along with dressing characters. Look at the incredible characters in paintings by Elmore, Caldwell, Easley and others, and it’s apparent they get the same enjoyment, too. For me, it also harkens back to those old D&D days when I’d be asked by EVERYONE in school to draw their D&D characters, and they’d explain to me the race, size, and build of their character, where he/she lives, and every other facet of the character. I’d then have to craft clothes, armor, weapons, etc, to suit them, especially based on the region in which they live. I used to LOVE doing that. I take the same enjoyment in Legend of Bill, “dressing” characters, (particularly Gina and Vasheeva), for their varied roles or changes as the story unfolds. Even Bill might be seeing a change in clothes, or at least adding to them, as he ventures further north into the Frozen Wastes. Anyway, here’s a sketch from the secret sketch tome of Bill, dreaming up Gina’s (in the Dark Queen’s bod) possible next outfit as she leaves the Dark Lands… it’s not easy finding the right clothes when the Dark Queen tends to wear little more than dental floss… but look at Gina’s swirly boob plates. Does she REALLY have any room to talk? Anyway, this will no doubt change some, but this is where I’m thinking at the moment… lots of black. I like that with the black hair. Very stark and bold, just like the Dark Queen. Whatcha think?
