Greetings, True Believers! So, many of you have been letting me know you love the guest strips, and at the same time some are wondering what happened to the Dark Queen/Princess Gina story arc and how that will wrap up. I have the Dark Queen strips written to conclusion of that story arc (it’s nearly complete), and have the next one pencilled still, almost finished inking. I had some pressing issues that came up and needed some help, and some of my good cartoonist pals came to the rescue with some AWESOME guest strips that have been running here. So thank you for bearing with me, and for enjoying THEIR awesome work! One of the best things for me is seeing how other cartoonists envision the realm of Bill.
I may go ahead and top off the Dark Queen/Gina story arc as I’m eager to tell it and see what happens. Above, you can see a few sketches from the next strip of mine in that arc. We’re about 4 strips away from that arc wrapping, and it continuing to the “next phase,” that is, (as LoB pal Nick Roche said in recent comments) DoppelGina seeking out Bill. Be here to find out!!
Speaking of which, Zortic creator and all-around very cool guy and fun cartoonist Mark Mekkes has drawn us a guest strip of Gina and the Queenie that will run tomorrow. Just you wait ’til you read that punchline!! I literally laughed out LOUD!!!
But, that’s not all!! In addition to some more FANTASTIC guest strips (and don’t forget the ones that have run already – hit the “Back” button to see them if you haven’t!) by some great cartoonist pals, coming very soon is an 8-part story arc featuring Bill and Frank, written by LoB team Lieutenant Steve Ogden based on an idea from yours truly, featuring guest art from some awesome webcomics and print luminaries, such as my pals Brian Anderson (of the syndicated newspaper co mic strip Dog Eat Doug), John Kovalic (Dork Tower), Scott Christian Sava (Dreamland Chronicles), Chuck Whelon (Pewfell), Tom Dell’Arringa (Marooned), and many more. You cannot miss this – it’s Bill and Frank in all their Dragon-slaying goodness! (woops, did I give something away?)
I’ll slip a strip in here and there, too.
LegendofBill.com is about to upgrade its site, and wait ’til you see some of this. Some BIG news coming! Bill is on the move, and let’s not forget the LoB comic book which I am diligently working on. I’ve chosen this sketch from a few months back as the art to complete for the awesome 1st issue cover of Legend of Bill #1. Thus f ar I have 2 issues planned, maybe even 3, in the short-term. Wait ’til you see this issue #1 cover all colored up purdy-like and the art tweaked here and there for maximum effect!! Issue #1 thus far will contain a BUNCH of strips from here in large printed glory, as well as color versions of the first strips which originally ren in black and white, a 6-page comic book short-story, a 2-3 page LoB prose story, a selection of guest strips that have run, some pin-up art, and even more! We’re holding nothing back for you, dear readers!! Might even include that map I’ve been working on of the realm! (if you’re good!) I’ll also be soliciting pre-orders for issue #1, so can I count on your support? Let’s grow this thing together!! The more support Bill gets, the more he, Frank, Gina and the Dark Queen can DO and GIVE! Wait, that didn’t sound right.
Okay, true believers, what a whoppin’ news day! More to come, so stick around, and be sure to check back constantly for sketchblog updates, and new guest strips (and some strips of my own that I sneak in!!) as I, and YOU, work on building the Legend… that is Bill!!
Excelsior!!!
David
