Another great one, David. This one is actually my favorite so far. Why? Well, I was thinking after I finished this, that what makes it work so well is the conversational quality the characters have. I mean in such a small space as 3 panels, you clearly define them. So much so that I wanted to ‘hear’ them better, and I started to wonder what the dragon’s voice is like. I mean if you could cast anybody living or dead to voice him.
Hmmm….
OMG! Justin, what a COOL idea!! And thank you for the kind words. Okay, so I’m gonna throw this out to YOU, dear readers… what type of voices do YOU hear coming out of Bill and Frank’s mouths? Do they have high or low voices? Who would YOU cast? I know who I would, but I wanna hear what you think first… let’s hear it, my friends… and see if it’s close to what I’m thinking…
Few people know that Atilla the Hun got his start raiding the pantries of various villages in Asia, stealing only two ears of corn and a small stick of butter from everyone. (He really, really liked corn.)
As for voices, Bill, though a barbarian, is not the Arnold type. I’m thinking Townsend Coleman, the guy who did the voice of the animated “Tick” (the good one, not the live action one that had potential they couldn’t quite reach.) Frank has a Terry-Thomas vibe going…the guy who did the voice to Sir Hiss in Disney’s “Robin Hood,” one of my favorite movies as a kid…though it doesn’t hold up that well over time.
OH my Freaking goodness, Tom … Townsend Coleman (animated “The Tick”) as Bill’s voice is exactly the voice I was thinking too. In-freakin’-credible!!!!
Barry (dialing the phone): Hello, Supreme Overlord? She’s not in? Okay, okay, okay. I need you to give her this message. Ready? Okay, tell her that Rod & I are going to be barbar–(Rod zaps Barry. Barry drops the phone. Rod picks it up.)
Rod: Barbers. Yep, that’s right. We’re going to be barbers.
Good thing for him they aren’t really barbarians yet otherwise, as per the Discworld ones and any barbarian worth his loincloth, Bill would decapitate him for his tie as a headband, loot the vicinity of all sellables then have Frank incinerate the place as a message to all future visitors.
we shall take all the creamer and stir sticks we can fit in our pockets!
love it.
Mr. Kruk is great. LOL
Thanks guys! Yeah, Mr. Kruk has sort of a medieval Ed Asner thing goin’ on! haha
That last panel cracks me up!

Gary Cole (Harvey Birdman/Dr. Possible from Kim Possible) for Bill and I keep hearing James Urbaniak’s Venture brother’s voice for Frank.
